Many of the region's wonders are hidden from the highways and can be accessed only on foot. Over 4,000 miles of hiking trails lead to the bottom of canyons, climb mountaintops, follow river and lake shores, and pause at thundering waterfalls contained within Yellowstone's 14 million acres of public land. The terrain varies from gentle to technical climbing-extreme, with every grade in between. In the spring, summer and autumn, explore the mountains by foot. Take a hike through mountain meadows ablaze with brilliant wildflowers, birds, wildlife, history and geology or watch the sunset behind the majestic Teton Mountain Range. Hiking Tour Rates: The Explorer (half-day): $75 per adult, $58 per child (ages 3-12) The Trekker (six hours): $105 per adult, $88 per child Wildlife/Hike (six hours): $105 per person, $88 per child The Mountaineer (all day): $145 per person Granite Hot Springs Tour (all day): $120 per adult, $98 per child (includes lunch) Hiking Tours provide: Naturalist or biologist guide, transportation, bottled water, snacks or lunch, binoculars, guidebooks, butterfly nets, complimentary children’s activity book for all youngsters, backpacks, fanny packs, rain ponchos, and water filters.
